There are a lot of people now that are advocating the use of renewable energy as means of power electronic appliances, machines and even car. We will start with a basic definition of renewable energy.
Renewable energy is basically energy that comes from renewable sources that can be all around the environment such as water and timber. Another classification is that the energy would come from resources that are in no danger of becoming overused and there is an abundance of with such as solar radiation and geothermal energy.
The main difference is that resources such as water and timber can be exhausted and we need to conserve it as to not exceed the earth’s replenishing capacity however; the case with solar radiation and geothermal energy it has no risk of being exhausted because they are constantly being reproduced by the sun and volcanoes.
Renewable energy has become increasingly popular nowadays because there is a fear of being highly dependent on non-renewable sources of energy such a diesel, coal and fossil fuels. They are called non-renewable sources of energy because they cannot be replenished once they are depleted.
Also, these sources of energy emit so much green gases that it has created a whole in the ozone layer. That is why we are already experiencing global warming which is not so good for our planet.
You can look around and you will see a lot of sources of renewable energy. However; with current technological limitations we are not fully utilizing it and we are unable to tap the unlimited power of these resources.
Also, a lot of people are still skeptical on the effectiveness of using renewable sources of energy as a main source of energy because some of them are still being developed and highly experimental.
Scientists and engineers are working extremely hard to actually provide us with means on to effectively produce renewable energy because of the fact that non-renewable sources of energy is become scarcer and scarcer and their prices are becoming so expensive.
Effectively gathering renewable energy will do wonders for our planet and hopefully, it will make us less dependent on non-renewable sources of energy.
